The roof that outlasts everything else
Metal roofs last 50+ years with almost no maintenance. In LA’s climate, that means you install it once and probably never think about it again. No cracking from UV, no shingle blow-offs from Santa Ana winds, no moss or algae growth.
We install and repair metal roofing for residential and commercial properties across Los Angeles.
Metal roofing types
Standing seam — Raised seams with concealed fasteners. This is the premium option. No exposed screws means no potential leak points. Clean, modern look that works on everything from mid-century homes to contemporary new builds.
Corrugated metal — Exposed fastener panels. More affordable than standing seam, and the right choice for garages, sheds, agricultural buildings, and certain architectural styles. Also popular for commercial and industrial applications.
Metal shingles — Individual metal pieces designed to look like traditional shingles, tile, or slate. Gives you the longevity of metal with a more conventional appearance if standing seam feels too modern for your home.
Why LA homeowners are switching to metal
Longevity — 50+ year lifespan vs. 20-25 for asphalt. Over the life of your home, you replace an asphalt roof 2-3 times. A metal roof? Once.
Fire resistance — Metal roofing is Class A fire rated, the highest rating. In a city where wildfire risk is real, that matters.
Energy savings — Metal reflects solar heat instead of absorbing it. LA homeowners typically see 10-25% lower cooling costs after switching to metal. Some metal roofs qualify for energy efficiency tax credits.
Wind resistance — Rated for 110-140 mph winds depending on the system. Santa Ana winds are not a concern.
Low maintenance — No shingle replacements, no resealing, no moss removal. Occasional cleaning is all a metal roof needs.
Installation process
Metal roofing installation is more specialized than asphalt. Proper installation requires experience with metal-specific fastening, flashing techniques, and thermal expansion.
Our process:
- Full tear-off of existing roofing (we don’t layer over)
- Decking inspection and repair
- Underlayment installation (high-temp synthetic for metal)
- Panel or shingle installation with proper fastening
- Custom trim and flashing work (this is what separates a good metal roof from a bad one)
- Final inspection and cleanup
Cost
Metal roofing costs more upfront than asphalt: roughly $12,000 to $35,000 for a residential installation depending on size and material. But when you factor in the 50+ year lifespan, lower energy bills, and zero maintenance, the total cost of ownership is often lower than going through two asphalt roofs.
